How we treat
Treating patients in a group setting has always been traditional in Asia. However, most acupuncturists in the US treat patients on tables in isolated rooms. The community-clinic model forms a return to the traditional way. Treatments are simple and repeated frequently for best results in our comfortable recliners or on tables in a quiet, soothing community room. Here at Community Acupuncture Ukiah, patients remain clothed (rolled up sleeves and pants only, sometimes exposed back for back-treatments)
Many people find it comforting to have others around them, rather than being alone in a private room. The precious silence and collective healing energy that everybody present in the treatment room creates, enhances the power of each individual’s treatment. Also, it is wonderful and fun to bring your family and friends along for a restful and healing time together!

How does a session look like?
We will talk about your complaints and ask a few questions and answer those you might have before doing traditional Chinese Pulse- and Tongue Diagnosis. Then you will get ready and comfortable for your treatment and we place the needles. Afterwards all you have to do is rest, relax and enjoy the acupuncture for anywhere between 25 minutes to an hour.
Follow-up Appointments
Since most medical conditions will need more than one or two treatments it is very likely that we will recommend a course of treatments that will give you good results. As a rule of thumb: Most chronic conditions need weekly treatments over a longer period of time, while acute conditions often can be treated quicker and with fewer sessions. Acupuncture’s effectiveness is cumulative, and patience may be necessary especially if dealing with a long standing health problem. It is important to us, that you do your best to commit to a given treatment plan, so you actually reach your health-goal and don’t miss out on the effectiveness and great benefits of acupuncture.
